Dr Michael O'Brien will be presenting a paper on emerging issues at the upcoming PREMIAM Conference, organised by CEFAS. The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for scientists, regulators and other professionals working in the field of marine oil/chemical spill monitoring to share experience, best practice and knowledge to the wider marine emergency response community. PREMIAM is an ongoing project that hopes to promote the use of sound science, co-operation and co-ordination in the design, conduct and management of environmental monitoring and impact assessment practices following accidental releases of oil/chemicals to the marine environment. Arctic Marine Oil Spill Response 2012, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, 31 July - 2 August 2012
A practical seminar for scientists, engineers and managers on oil spill prevention, planning and response in cold or ice-covered waters is being held at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks (UAF). Presented by the Institute of Northern Engineering, the International Arctic Research Center and the Geophysical Institute at UAF, the course aims to enhance the knowledge of technical professionals so that they are equipped to make well-informed decisions in the event of an offshore oil spill in the Arctic.
