ITOPF strengthens collaboration with IOPC Funds during London meeting

ITOPF visited the offices of the IOPC Funds in London, with Managing Director Oli Beavon leading a delegation of senior representatives for discussions on continued cooperation in responding to ship-source pollution incidents.

The meeting brought together ITOPF's Executive Team of Oli Beavon, Jenny Edwards, and Richard Johnson with senior officials from the IOPC Funds to reaffirm their longstanding partnership and shared commitment to strengthening the international compensation regime. Discussions focused on enhancing coordination during incidents and supporting governments and stakeholders with science-based resposne and recovery strategies. 

Oli Beavon said, "We thank Gaute Sivertsen and the IOPC Funds team for hosting us at their offices today. It is always a pleasure to meet and on this occasion, discuss the HNS Convention and the expertise ITOPF has on offer on in this area."

A key areas of focus was the 2010 Hazardous Noxious Substances (HNS) Convention which will establish a global framework for liability and compensation for damage arising from maritime transport of HNS substances. 

ITOPF and the IOPC Funds have worked closely together for more than four decades, collaborating on numerous incidents, technical initiatives and capacity-building activities worldwide. This latest meeting reinforces a shared commitment to maintaining strong cooperation and ensuring an effective international framework for responding to ship-source pollution.
