ITOPF tours maritime stakeholders in Japan following HNS Convention seminar with IOPC Funds

Members of the ITOPF technical team embarked on another roadshow tour of maritime stakeholders, this time in Japan, as it continue its efforts to meet with, share knowledge, and discuss solutions to the challenges faced by the marine pollution response industry.

The trip was centred around the IOPC Funds and Japan Maritime Center (JMC) seminar on the Hazardous Noxious Substances (HNS) 2010 Convention, in which ITOPF presented on its experience in responding to incidents involving HNS and the challenges they pose in comparison to more traditional fuels.

ITOPF met with a number of key stakeholders while in country, delivering bespoke sessions on specific alternative fuels, such as ammonia, and sharing its experiences from recent case studies including those involving plastic pellets.

The trip provided a platform for ITOPF to share more widely its literature on the potential hazards of alternative fuels when released in the environment.

Represented by Andrew Le Masurier and Dr Angela Pinzón Espinosa, ITOPF was able to visit members of its Board of Directors and their organisations and is are grateful to all those it met with during the visit to Japan. W
