Swedish Club's Marine Insurance Seminar features ITOPF presentation and exercise

Coverage for pollution is a significant aspect of Protect & Indemnity (P&I) insurance and was one of several types of insurance discussed during Swedish Club’s Marine Insurance Course, which ITOPF attended in September where it engaged with new staff, brokers and underwriters, to share our knowledge and expertise.

The course was composed of lectures and workshop sessions focused on the three major types of marine insurance, P&I, Freight, Demurrage & Defence (FD&D), and Hull & Machinery (H&M) in detail. As part of the P&I session, ITOPF, represented by Phil Ruck and Jonjo Hughes, delivered a presentation on marine pollution and its role in responding to such incidents. These discussions culminated in a table-top exercise, designed by ITOPF, which takes participants through a timeline of events following a pollution incident, taking into consideration the many factors present when managing a response.

ITOPF was grateful to engage with its connections at the Swedish Club, and to create new connections during the course, as well as learn more about the aspects of marine insurance ITOPF is not typically involved with.
