ITOPF has responded to more than 800 incidents involving oil or chemical spills worldwide. Our highly skilled international team are ready to assist 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide impartial technical advice.

We operate on a not-for-profit basis and provide a wide range of technical services to promote effective response in the marine environment to back up our core role of responding to ship-sourced spills. Our five key services are spill response, claims analysis & damage assessment, contingency planning, training & education and information.

Membership Secretary - flexible working in Central London or Singapore

The Role  

We are looking for an experienced membership/customer service professional to support our Senior Membership Secretary to maintain accurate records of Membership and Fixed Premium P&I Associate vessel details, to improve our membership database, to carry out due diligence, provide training and engage with stakeholders.

This is an ongoing full-time position, part time will also be considered (minimum of 4 days per week). 

Requirements

  • Significant experience in membership/customer service (minimum 5 years in a similar role or equivalent), including
    • due diligence, risk & compliance
    • data management and record keeping
    • database administration & improvement (Apex Oracle preferred)
  • Experience in a relevant sector (not for profit, maritime/shipping, insurance, oil spill response, protection of the marine environment)
  • Confident in creating and delivering reports and presentations
  • Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to learn about ITOPF and its Members and Associates
  • Awareness of the impact of sanctions on the maritime industry (preferred)
  • Proficient in the use of risk and compliance tools and software (Seasearcher preferred)
  • Willing to travel overseas, with notice, London/Singapore primarily

Technical Support Co-ordinator (London or Singapore)

We are looking for a Technical Suport Coordinator to join our team.

The role:

As a key part of the Technical Team at ITOPF, this role supports our involvement in the preparation and response to ship-source marine pollution. The functions of the role are varied, including modelling, monitoring and mapping services as required during our response to incidents, to assess claims for the costs of response activities and pollution damage, and to maintain our knowledge of pollution response resources globally

Skills and experience:

You will need a degree in a STEM subject, strong IT skills, excellent interpersonal skills and fluency in English. Relevant practical experience of pollution response resources, knowledge of GIS, numerical modelling, satellite imagery, databases, claims and fluency in additional languages are desirable.

(If you are applying for the role based in Singapore, candidates a second language to English – preferably Mandarin, or Malay, Bahasa Indonesia, Japanese or Korean are of interest due to the stakeholder engagement requirements in the Asia Pacific region. You should also already have the right to work in Singapore).

The role will include some planned travel to support this work.
