Countries, Territories & Regions
The Country & Territory Profiles provide a summary of spill response arrangements and resources in maritime nations. They were originally developed in 1993 to help shipowners produce the Shipboard Oil Pollution Emergency Plans (SOPEPs) required under the MARPOL Convention, but have also proved useful to other organisations involved in the production, transport or handling of oil, and for preparing for and responding to spills.
There are currently some 160 Country & Territory Profiles, 2-4 pages in length and containing information under the following headings:
- Spill Notification Point
- Competent National Authority
- Response Arrangements
- Response Policy
- Previous Spill Experience
- Hazardous & Noxious Substances (where available)
- Regional and Bilateral Agreements
The Profiles are updated as new information becomes available. If you are aware of any items in the Profiles which need updating or are incorrect, please notify us. Your co-operation would greatly increase their value.
