Response Arrangements
Sao Tome and Principe is part of the GIWACAF project and activitely involved in its initiatives focused on strengthening national oil spill response capacities as well as transboundary response capabilities in west, central and southern Africa. It is currently working towards the development of a national oil spill contingency plan with the support of GIWACAF (information from 2021).
Response Policy
The use of dispersants is considered a primary option in Sao Tome and Principe (information from GIWACAF, 2021). Further information is not currently known.

There are no specialised stockpiles of clean-up equipment available, though oil companies operating in the country would be expected to have spill response resources.

ITOPF is not aware of any major spills affecting Sao Tome and Principe
