Competent National Authority
Congo has a national oil spill response plan which was revised in 2009 and is available on the website of GI WACAF. This outlines response arrangements and alerting procedures.
Oil operating companies in Congo would have contingency plans for their own facilities.
Specific details are not known.
Total is the country's leading oil producer through its subsidiary, Total E&P Congo and would have equipment at its facilities. It would also have access to Total's Fast Oil Spill Team (FOST) in France, a stockpile of Tier 2 oil pollution response equipment.
The oil operating companies in the Congo have signed agreements via Association des Operateur Pétrolier du Congo (AOPC) to pool their response equipment in the event of an incident.
