ITOPF attends IMO Legal Committee

Tim Wadsworth attended the 110th meeting of the Legal Committee (LEG110) at the International Maritime Organization last week to support approval of the finalised text of the Claims Manual for the 2001 Bunkers Convention.

ITOPF had contributed to the intersessional group established under the coordination of the delegation of Georgia to develop the text of the manual in preparation for this meeting. In supporting its publication, Tim intervened at LEG110 to note that since the entry into force of the Bunkers Convention in November 2008, ITOPF had attended on site at more than 150 incidents involving a spill of bunker oil, at many of which such a manual would have been helpful for claimants and others involved.
