ITOPF R&D Award 2019 – Sintef project update

The final report of the Sintef project on low sulphur fuel oils which won the 2019 ITOPF R&D Award is now available on our website. The main objective of this study has been to provide better documentation of the variability of the weathering properties and behaviour of new low sulphur marine fuel oils when spilled at sea, and to determine mitigation effectiveness of different oil spill response options. The project was also funded by the Canadian government “Multi-partner Oil Spill Research Initiative program” (MPRI) and the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA).

Further details on other past winners, as well as guidance on how to apply for the next ITOPF R&D Award, are available at  http://www.itopf.org/in-action/r-d-award/ .
