P&I Seminar, Mexico

ITOPF was delighted to participate in a seminar entitled “The maritime industry and its role in the protection of the marine environment” organised and hosted by P&I Services (Grupo Del Mex) from 3rd-4th October in Mexico City. This two-day event included participation from the International Group of P&I Clubs, IMO, IOPC Funds, ICS and CMI. One of the purposes of the seminar was to promote implementation of the various IMO liability and compensation conventions in Mexico. Approximately 80 delegates from the Mexican government, petroleum industry and insurance market attended, alongside representatives from Guatemala, Honduras and Venezuela. ITOPF was represented by Pauline Marchand and Angela Pinzon-Espinosa whose participation included the running of a claims and compensation exercise. The seminar proved very successful and future collaborative work in the region is anticipated.
