Regional contingency planning, Southeast Asia

Dr Annabelle Nicolas-Kopec was one of the trainers at a regional contingency planning workshop held in Malaysia from 19th -21st August. This was organised under the framework of the Global Initiative for Southeast Asia (GISEA), hosted by the Marine Department of Malaysia and supported by IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme. The objective of the workshop was to help bring into operation the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Regional Oil Spill Contingency Plan, which was formally adopted in 2018. Representatives from nine ASEAN member states attended.
