Expert insight provided at Gallagher Marine Systems North American Regulatory Seminar

ITOPF attended the Gallagher Marine Systems - LLC (GMS) North American Regulatory Seminar where Mark Whittington represented the company, delivering presentations on different incident management systems used across the globe.

Mark dived into discussions on alternative fuels used by the shipping industry as it steers towards decarbonisation, highlighting the potential risks and hazards these fuels present to the marine environment and response workers when released. This included discussions around the challenges and options of the handling and bunkering of these fuel types.

While in the region, Mark also supported GMS’s annual Qualified Individual (QI) training course where he gave insight into ITOPF’s experience in handling spills of plastic pellets garnered from recent case studies.
