ITOPF contributes expertise at NOSCA Seminar 2026 in Bergen

Bringing together operational, scientific and industry expertise through live exercises and conferences remains an important element in strengthening global spill preparedness and response. ITOPF contributed to this objective at the NOSCA Seminar 2026, held in Bergen and organised by Clean Oceans.

The seminar provided a platform for knowledge exchange alongside the opportunity to observe response capability in a live exercise environment. ITOPF contributed to the programme with a case study on plastic pellet incidents, drawing on recent experience to highlight key response challenges and considerations associated with these types of spills.

Sessions throughout the seminar focused on themes including mechanical recovery in spill response and digital transformation, with particular attention given to the application of artificial intelligence. The programme brought together stakeholders from across industry, research and response organisations, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in enhancing preparedness and operational capability.

The event combined conference sessions with a live offshore and shoreline response exercise delivered by the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) and participating stakeholders. This enabled delegates to consider both strategic approaches and their practical application in an operational setting.

The seminar provided a valuable opportunity to share experience, engage with industry partners and contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen marine pollution response worldwide.
