ITOPF provides expert insight to industry panel on future fuels

Solis Marine, Hill Dickinson LLP and MARITIME LONDON held their ‘Future Fuels’ event in London as the seminar explored the emerging fuel technologies in the maritime industry with Andrew Le Masurier representing ITOPF as part of its expert panel.

Andrew provided insight into how responses to new alternative fuels may look and differ from responses to oil spills, including what practical challenges face the pollution response industry and the wider picture of claims and compensation arising from spills of this type.

He spoke about the potential damage and liability implications for P&I insurers also, offering thoughts on how potential hazards and risks of these fuels are more pertinent to consider, rather than the fate and behaviour of oil when released into the marine environment.
