Drum skimmer in operation

Mechanical drum skimmer deployed in a port area following a spill of bunker fuel in the Dominican Republic in 2009. Teeth on the rotating drum draw the oil towards the device where it is recovered into the drum and pumped to storage. The drum is constructed from a mesh to minimise recovery of water.
