US/Canada transboundary liability and compensation workshop, September 2019

10/09/2019 - 12/09/2019

In the event of an oil spill from a ship at the US/Canada border, liability and compensation will be important considerations. Who has responsibility to pay for actions in either country and for third party claims will be the subject of a second workshop on the subject to be held in Portland, Maine, USA in September.  Attendees from US and Canadian agencies, as well and from international sources of compensation, will also discuss ways in which claims for costs and losses incurred as a result of an oil spill can dealt with effectively and efficiently in a transboundary scenario to expedite the assessment process. Tim Wadsworth will attend to represent ITOPF.
