RETOS workshop delivered in Malaysia

ITOPF spent time in Malaysia hosting a workshop with the Department of Environment (DOE) to deliver training on using the Readiness Evaluation Tool for Oil Spills (RETOS).

Angela Pinzón Espinosa and Lauren Fearenga represented ITOPF and organised the workshop in collaboration with the DOE and this national-level workshop marks the start of a longer-term capacity building partnership to strengthen Malaysia’s oil spill preparedness system.

Key agencies came together under a national task force — including the National Security Council, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), Marine Department, Petroleum Industry Of Malaysia Mutual Aid Group (PIMMAG), PETRONAS, and others — to assess and improve response capabilities through RETOS.
