10th National Pollution Response Exercise takes place in Chennai, India
The 10th National Pollution Response Exercise, NATPOLREX, took place in Chennai, India, to test, validate and improve India’s readiness to marine pollution incidents. More than 100 national delegates attended from central ministries, state governments, ports, and oil-handling agencies, as well as more than 40 observers from other nations.

Oil spill response readiness and preparedness in the Baltic Sea and Finland was the first topic of conversation during the MARISEC 2025 Seminar in Kotka, Finland, where ITOPF joined to engage in these discussions.
ITOPF hosts marine pollution response seminar in Hong Kong
ITOPF's seminar, held in Hong Kong in September, provided an overview of these factors, and outlined steps taken to address challenges raised by oil, chemical and plastic pellet responses. Experience from real-life cases were shared with Hong Kong based P&I Insurers, The Hong Kong Shipowners Association, and the Hong Kong Marine Department for wider overall awareness and preparedness.

ITOPF joins Pacific Symposium in Fiji
To bolster response readiness in the Pacific, the Pacific Symposium co-hosted by the The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji-(MSAF), the UK Government’s Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP), and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) took place in Fiji last week, with ITOPF supporting the knowledge sharing at the event.
Ocean Resilience Summit takes place in Brazil
Responding effectively to spills of pollutants at-sea and on the shoreline requires careful planning and clear collaboration between involved parties. OceanPact Serviços Marítimos in partnership with International Spill Control Organisation (ISCO) and the Regional Association of Companies in the Oil, Gas and Biofuels Sector in Latin America and the Caribbean (ARPEL) addressed these themes during the Ocean Resilience Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September 2025.
